A to Z Children's Dentistry - Braces

Orthodontic Treatment

Crooked teeth not only affect the beauty of your smile and your self confidence. They can also cause a range of oral health issues, including decay and gum disease.

At A to Z Children’s Dentistry, we offer a variety of orthodontic treatments, including braces and Invisalign®, to give you a fantastic smile and bite.

So why should you consider orthodontics?

Options for Every Age

A to Z Children’s Dentistryis a great place to explore the orthodontic treatment options available today. That’s because we continually invest in advancements that make your time in treatment efficient and comfortable. Dr. Darren and Dr. Tucker are leaders in orthodontics, and that means there’s no better place to get the answers you need to make the right decision for your family. And no matter your age, we have options that can be customized not only to your teeth – but to your life, school, work and budget.

Early Treatment

The American Association of orthodontists encourages parents to schedule their child’s initial exam at age 7. Often at this age we are simply establishing a baseline and monitoring growth and development. In some cases, we will recommend early, interceptive treatment. With early treatment we can make necessary space and guide facial growth. This early treatment often makes the second phase easier and often allows us to avoid permanent tooth extractions.  However, in most cases, we actually don’t recommend treatment until the child has all of his or her adult teeth.

If waiting for treatment is recommended, we’ll see your child once or twice a year to monitor their growth and assess their needs. These very important growth and development appointments are provided free of charge and allow us to start orthodontic treatment at the perfect time.

Options for Adolescents

Between the ages of 11 and 15 is the most common time for orthodontic treatment, and for good reasons. By 12, most, if not all, of the permanent teeth are in place, and crooked teeth, gaps and bad bites are highly visible. We can often take advantage of the remaining growth to make the necessary orthodontic corrections and create an exceptional smile and bite for your child. Since many of their friends are in braces at the same time, most adolescents LOVE sharing the braces experience. After school visits at Haltom Orthodontics feel a lot like friends getting together with friends.
