Sedation

Sedation helps our patients to calm down so that we can easily perform the procedures. Unlike regular anesthetics, sedation helps the patient by calming them down by getting rid of the anxiety they experience.

For any hospital dentistry procedures involving extreme cases, we can also provide hospital sedation. Our board-certified dentist will perform the procedure at the hospital. The patient will be checked in for outpatient surgery. The anesthesia will be given to the patient, and when the work is complete, the patient will wait to recover from the anesthesia before going home.

Sedation is beneficial for children who have difficulty sitting still or are too young to understand what goes on in a dental office. And especially for patients that get scared coming to the dentist, sedation will help them relax.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is a mild sedative frequently used in dental offices. Our certified dentists are licensed to administer laughing gas to our patients. This form of sedative causes feelings of relaxation and mild euphoria. For patients that have some anxiety, laughing gas will be the best option. It has a quick recovery period, and after the treatment is complete, the patient will be able to go about their normal activities almost immediately.

Since it is administered through a face mask some patients may not be comfortable wearing it. Young children or those with special needs may be afraid of the mask making it difficult to be administered. If you want to know if nitrous oxide is right for your child, please call one of our locations.
